During the ceremony at the Mayo Clinic headquarters, Dr. Theresia Amori, Medical Director for Alumni Relations, praised Dr. Nehme's instrumental role in founding the Faculty of Medicine at Saint George University and ensuring the continuity of medical education following the Beirut port explosion. Despite the extraordinary challenges, Dr. Nehme successfully developed the academic curriculum, leading to the enrollment of the university's first medical students in October 2022.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Nehme expressed both gratitude for the recognition and profound sadness about the current situation in Lebanon. He underscored the critical importance of education in rebuilding the nation and empowering its people to overcome adversity.
